Greetings Kentucky School Counselors,
The 2019-2020 school year was undoubtedly one of the most challenging years yet. The components of life we take for granted have been exposed to us and we have had to adapt to a much different way of life. However, as when we work with our students daily, we know this is temporary and we will be back stronger than ever. That is what we do and that is the passion we ignite in our students daily.
When I ran for KSCA president, I ran on a slogan “Unite to Ignite.” It is my hope that with all that we have endured over this most recent school year, we are united stronger than ever to ignite students’ success. Our Fall 2020 Conference is visioned from the “Unite to Ignite” theme and titled “Igniting Passion, Changing Lives.”
Kentucky School Counselors, you change lives on a daily basis because of the passion that is ignited in you. We are igniters of passion and there is no better time than this moment we are experiencing to teach students, families, and staff to overcome these obstacles that we have been facing and the obstacles that we will face in the future. The work I have seen all over the state is amazing and the resources you continue to share have allowed school counselors all over Kentucky to shine bright through a difficult time.
I am proud to serve the 2020-2021 school year as your president. I am excited for the work that is going on all around the state and the progress we are making as school counselors to provide more direct services to students. We have much work to do to get to where we need to be, but I am confident this will be the best year yet because all of you continue to be committed to a growth mindset and advocacy for our profession. Our students, staff, and families are so fortunate that you have chosen to be a school counselor and I want to thank each of you for your contributions.
Here’s to a great year!
